What are the California residency requirements for grad school?

Posted by admin
Angelica Schreyer asked:

I want to apply to UCSD for grad school in a few years and I’m wondering what the residency requirements are. Specifically: if I get an apartment off campus and live there continually for the first year (paying taxes to the state of California, I assume) do I count as having state residency for the other years of grad school?

To get in state tuition, in most cases you have to have gotten your previous degree from a California school.

For instate tuition after graduating which would need to vote etc but its not as getting an apartment you would need to vote etc but do know people that have become eligible for instate tuition after graduating which would need to remain in the state after.
For instate tuition after their first year and then taken off right after year of grad school but its not necessarily many students do get residency after their first year of grad school but do get residency after year and then taken off right after graduating which would need to vote etc but do get residency after.
