How do I ask for a letter of recommendation for graduate school?

The professor that I am planning to ask a letter of recommendation from is leaving his position this year. However, I am not planning to apply for graduate school till next year. Is it possible to ask him to write the letter now and store it and use it next year when I apply?

      Ya it definitely possible and you could also ask other professors. If you’re shadowing a specific profession, ask them as well ( Which is best of all of them).
