Can you receive enough federal loans to survive in Graduate School?

Friday, September 12th, 2008
Rose D asked:

I am graduating from Georgia State University in May. I want to go to graduate school but am worried about affording to go and survive. Is anyone familiar with federal loan options in graduate school? Could I possibly be able to take out enough to pay tuition and have some left over? I plan to attend UGA.

Instead of Beauty School High School Graduates Opt for Cosmetic Laser School

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Melissa Peterman asked:

Any post graduate school or any other higher education facility is going to move students ahead further than if they only had a high school diploma. Students are discovering cosmetic laser schools offer higher wages and benefits than attending standard beauty school.

Besides haircuts and manicures, men and women are splurging for even more. Even in this economy, people are paying big bucks for cosmetic laser treatments such as:

•    Laser Hair Removal

•    Restylane and Juvederm Facial Injections

•    Microderm Abrasion

•    Tattoo Removal

•    Other Medi-Spa Treatments

Graduates of cosmetic laser school receive Restylane training and Juvederm training  on top of laser hair removal and other modern medical spa skills. The reason for the surge in laser school enrollments is due partly because these modern services come with a hefty price tag, which in turn, help to provide good paychecks and benefits for it’s staff.

Cosmetic Hair Removal Price Comparison Verses the Waxing Salon

•    $50-$150 for a bikini/ back/leg wax

•    $225-$2,000 for laser hair removal for bikini/ back/ legs

Cosmetic Photo Facial Verses Facial at the Salon

•    $500-$1000 for Photofacial

•    $50-100 for salon facial

Beauty School Verses Laser School

•    $3,000-$5,000 for beauty school

•    $4000 laser school

The pricing for beauty school is comparable to that of laser school. Graduates of laser school can expect to pay off their student loan faster than graduates of beauty school, where their salary is often less than the salary of laser school graduates.

When it comes to elective procedures like being hair-free or tattoo free that make people feel good about themselves, it doesn’t matter the price, people will pay for it. Nothing proves this fact more than looking at the enrollment rate of students at laser schools and the expansions of medical spas nation and world-wide. For a large majority of the nation, expensive salon treatments are definitely low on the priority list, but when it comes to being hair free or tattoo free for one’s wedding, or beach vacation, there are some things like peace of mind that you can’t put a price on.

Do it Today - Returning to Graduate School Made Easy

Monday, September 8th, 2008
Amber Smith asked:

Going back to graduate school can be a daunting proposition, especially if you’ve been away from school for many years. Why are you waiting, though? Will it be easier to go back to school next year? Will you suddenly not have a little fear if you wait? Probably not. It may still be a little scary, but let’s think about all the reasons why now is a great time to go back.

1. “If you have something to do, do it today.” - A friend used to give me this advice, which I think came from his grandfather. He always said that if something needed to be done, and it scared you a little, then you should go ahead and do it today - right now if possible. I agree. The scary something is for you, the sooner you should do it. It’s easier that way, I promise.

2. Does It Make Financial Sense? - Perhaps you finally convinced your employer to pay for your schooling or you’ve reached the time during your work there that the company is willing to pay for your school. Then, get started today. There’s no reason to wait any longer. You can get a free degree and the sooner you start, the sooner you’ll finish.

3. The Longer You Wait, the Harder It Will Be - Maybe you’re thinking, “Well, I just had a new child,” or “I do feel really busy right now.” The longer you wait, the harder it will become for you to go back to school. Maybe you’ll have another child or your job will give you more responsibility. Either way, your excuses are only likely to become stronger with time, not weaker, so you should go ahead and start today.

4. It’s Been So Long Since I Was In School - Well, the longer you wait, the longer it will have been. It’s not like you’re going to get younger by the day. So, go back now. I know being a returning student is scary, but you probably have more going for you than you would imagine. And, in all honesty, my returning students always do better than those who have never left school. They are more motivated, and I think school was more difficult when they were in high school, so the transition isn’t that big of a deal.

If you want to do something, do it today. If you’ve been wanting to go back to school, go talk to your work supervisor or download the application, right now. At least begin researching some schools. The sooner you make the decision, the easier it will be. You can handle graduate school, so you should go ahead back now - just think the sooner you start, the sooner you’ll be walking across that stage getting your graduate degree.

Do many Korean students go to graduate school?

Saturday, September 6th, 2008
cgym asked:

I had a relative from Korea visit and my cousin asked him if he was going to go to graduate school when he goes back to Korea after studying English in the US for about a year. My relative already graduated from a Korean college and went to the Korean army. He also told me he wanted to apply to a big corporation job back in Korea, but yet he expressed he didn’t need graduate school. His thoughts could’ve changed, but I was just wondering if many people in Korea share that idea with him.

Thanks in advance.

June
